The current electricity demand
More than 2/3 of the growing population of sub-Saharan Africa, that is about 700 million people, does not have access to basic energy.
Only in West Africa, over 150 million people have no access to power for basic lighting, mobile phone charging, access to education, information, communication, and health, to name a few.
At the same time, more than 80% of the population does possess a connected cell phone, but 80% of them must travel more than 5 kilometres simply to charge their mobile phones. Not only is this a waste of time, but also of money, since the service is costly.
The current electricity offer
THE OFFER IS
Today, the only access to basic energy in rural Africa is based on expensive, polluting and poor quality fuels, candles and disposable batteries.
These “solutions” are not only dangerous for the environment, but above all for the human health. How can we protect our children, if they are exposed to the damaging smoke of bad petroleum lamps and cheap candles every night ?
Not to mention the huge economical cost of these solutions, since rural people spend up to 30% of their incomes for these poor-quality products.
Yet, Africa benefits every day of the most natural and safe energy source available: the sun
Wouldn’t it be a shame that African populations don’t take advantage of it? The picture is clear: people need safe, clean, affordable and trustworthy electricity solutions. A solution we provide to them.
